City tax rate slightly decreases

The city council approved its current budget and adopted a decreased tax rate from 0.4082 per $100 to 0.3997 per $100 at its resumed meeting on Friday, Sept. 30 at 1 pm.
With the decreased tax rate, property taxes will raise less revenue by an amount of $19,573. The new property tax revenue from properties added to this year’s tax roll will be $3,781.95, according to the 2016-17 Budget Cover Page.
