DRT plans meeting

The Joshua D. Brown Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will hold its first meeting of the 2016-2017 year Monday, Sept. 26, at Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Jackson Road, in Kerrville.
The meeting will start at 10 am and is open to women interested in Texas History, genealogy, and fellowship. Optional luncheon follows the meetings.
Even though no meetings were held during the summer months, members remained active with luncheons and committee meetings. The Chapter awarded its first college scholarship to Baileigh Toenes, a graduate of Bandera High School. She is now a student at Schreiner University pursuing a career in the medical field.
The Chapter is also planning a “DRT 101” class for new members and anyone interested in learning more about DRT. It will be held at the downstairs meeting room at the Butt-Holdsworth Library in Kerrville on Oct. 15, from 1-4 pm.
