Helping out Helping Hand

By Judith Pannebaker BCC Editor

Jesse Parks, executive director of Helping Hand, has put out a call for donations to the organization’s food pantry.
“Towards the end of the month, we always run out of food,” she said in a recent interview. “In August, we gave out more food than in any other month I can recall.”
A family of seven, who came to Helping Hand the last week in August, was given a package of ribs and dried beans and rice. “That’s all we had on hand,” Parks said.
The food pantry can always use processed game meat, canned goods, canned and dried soup, peanut butter, jelly, frozen and canned meat and cereal. “We appreciate anything the residents so generously donate,” Parks added
For more information, call Parks at 830-796-8300. Helping Hand is located at 1116 12th Street.
