ISO historical evidence of Western Cattle Trail

By Judith Pannebaker BCC Editor

Local historian Dave Burell is searching for tangible confirmation that the Western Cattle Trail had wended its way through Bandera County in the 1880s.
“We’re looking for historical photographs and documents, as well as any actual topographical evidence that supports the trail’s crossing land in this county on the way north,” he said.
Next year marks the 100th anniversary of the Trail Riders’ Association and Burell hopes to snag the group for an annual meeting in Bandera County in late spring and early summer. He expects that 50-75 members will attend, in addition to “plenty of locals.”
If longtime county residents and property owners can assist Burell in his quest for information, they can reach him at 830-796-7796.
