Members of the Bandera County Historical Commission were on hand during the Thursday, July 28, meeting of Bandera County Commissioners Court to be honored for their work by the State of Texas. For the second time in five years, the venerable Texas Historical Commission lauded the local organization with a distinguished service award for their prodigious efforts at historical preservation. Members accepting the honor included, front row, from left, Chairman Roy Dugosh; Judge Richard Evans; and members, Annette Kalka-Schulte, Mary McGroarty Smith, and Elenora Dugosh Goodley; and back row, Commissioners Bobby Harris, Robert “Bob” Grimes, Andy Wilkerson and Jordan “Jody” Rutherford. As Grimes noted, “We have more historical markers installed in this county per capita than anywhere in the world. In response, Goodley quipped, “And each one takes a year to research.”
