LH man drowns in Medina Lake

By Judith Pannebaker BCC Editor

The first reported fatality of the summer has been reported on Medina Lake, according to Bandera County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Matt King.
A drowning occurred on the Medina County side of Medina Lake on Sunday, July 31. Although details are scant, the 38-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, was purportedly a resident of Thornton Lane in Lakehills.
According to information, a member of the Lakehills Volunteer Fire Department discovered the body, still equipped with a flotation device, at approximately 2 pm in the water by Bob’s Cove. Because a jet ski was also found in the vicinity, authorities surmised the fatality had been the result of a boating accident, King said.
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Game Warden Mark McQueary, who is assigned to Bandera County, is heading up the investigation.
Attempts to contact TPW administrators for more information proved futile due to a recalcitrant phone system.
