Bandera track & field club starts now

By Sandy Jennings BCC Staff Writer

As Bandera track and field athletes flood the headlines, the Bandera Track and Field Club opens registration for their summer sessions I and II, and begins practice this Monday, May 23.
This Monday, instruction for all 12 and under student athletes will be 5:30 until 6:40pm. All attendees will participate in a Monday/Wednesday practice with Tuesday/Thursday track meets at neighboring towns. Parents are responsible for all transportation.
Specialized instruction camp dates are June 10-11, and June 24-25.
For Bandera student athletes ages 13-18, the track and field club consist of the same two sessions June 10-11, and June 24-25.
All camp instruction will be provided by visiting instructors from other schools, as well as retired coaches, who now serve as personnel trainers for specific events. Additional local instruction is available on an appointment only basis at no additional cost.
The cost is $60 full fee for first member of a family and $40 for each additional sibling. No fee after three family members (includes both camp sessions).
A copy of the physical examination must accompany the registration form or presently be on file with Bandera ISD, for athletes ages 13-18.
The camp will focus on events including distance training, high jump, long jump, triple jump, hurdles, pole vault, speed development, discus and shot put.
The Hill Country Summer Track and Field Meet schedule includes meets at Kerrville, Junction, Harper and Bandera.
