Keeping seniors cool this summer

By Judith Pannebaker BCC Editor

This summer, administrators and staff at the Cedar Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center are searching for fans – but not the ones who swoon over the latest “star du jour.”
They are collecting electric fans for distribution to local senior citizens in advance of South Central Texas’ coming 100º-plus days – which will be here all too soon.
New fans, as well as clean used ones in good working conditions, can be dropped off at Cedar Creek, 159 Montague Drive, in Bandera. Electric fans can also be taken to the Helping Hand Thrift Shop, 1116 12th Street.
Fans will be distributed at the Helping Hand location. However, volunteers from Cedar Creek will deliver fans to senior citizens without access to transportation.
To help a senior stay cool during the “dog days of summer,” Bandera County residents are urged to participate in this worthwhile program.
For more information, contact Shayne Brown at Cedar Creek at 830-460-0050 or Laura White at Helping Hand, 830-796-8300.
