BEC membership meeting announced

Special to the Courier

The 77th annual Bandera Electric Cooperative membership meeting will begin at 8:30 am, Saturday, May 21, at Mansfield Park in Bandera. The event will feature the BEC business meeting, as well as an energy-efficiency fair highlighting local vendors and contractors.
This year, BEC will conduct the board of director election by mail, email and phone for the election of directors from districts seven, eight and nine. Ballots were emailed and mailed to all members on April 27.
“Like cooperatives across the United States, BEC was built on the principles of democracy where all members have a voice and are encouraged to participate in the election process,” said BEC CEO Bill Hetherington. “This annual meeting is the chance for your vote to be counted, voice to be heard and your questions answered.”
This year, in conjunction with the annual meeting, BEC will host an energy fair to give cooperative members an opportunity to learn more about renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies. Members can learn more about BEC’s sustainability efforts and how to reduce utility costs at home.
The fair will feature energy conservation consultants, contractors and suppliers who will provide firsthand information about energy audits, winterization strategies, energy-efficient home improvements and renewable energy options and financing.
Additionally, this year, the annual meeting and energy fair will foster an environment for members to seek information, services and products that encourage energy efficiency, conservation and sustainability all under one roof. BEC is dedicated to providing safe, reliable and affordable electric service, and members are encouraged to take part in helping the cooperative improve service delivery.
Bandera Electric Cooperative currently serves nearly 24,000 members and provides electric service to almost 34,000 meters in a seven county territory in Texas Hill Country. More information about BEC is available at BanderaElectric.com or by calling 866-226-3372.
