South Texas Blood & Tissue Center in Bandera

Contributed

Every year, the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center conducts thousands of mobile blood drives, reaching out to donors across the region for the gift of life.
As the backbone of collections for the center, these drives provide lifesaving blood for patients in hospitals and clinics across more than three dozen counties. And the need for blood is constant – for everything from cancer treatments to traumatic injuries to surgery.
From 8:15 am to 3 pm, Wednesday, April 27, the mobile South Texas Blood & Tissue Center will be at Bandera High School, 474 Old San Antonio Highway to conduct a blood and platelet drive.
Donors must present identification. Anyone who is 16 years old, weighs at least 120 pounds and presents with with parental consent form or who is 17 years old, weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good general health may donate blood.
All donors receive a T-shirt, refreshments, a mini-physical and are encouraged to eat before and after donation.
