Photography workshop slated for F’burg

Learning how to better “see” is the focus of an upcoming Photography Workshop offered by local professional photographer Jeannette Joy Hormuth.
The “Learning to See Creatively” Photography Workshop will offer the inspiration and techniques necessary to stretch, sharpen, nurture and energize one’s visual perception. Photography enthusiasts as well as individuals desiring to open their minds and expand their vision is invited to participate.
This eight-week hands-on workshop will take place from 1:30 pm to 3 pm, on Tuesdays from March 29 through May 17, at Hoffmann Haus in Fredericksburg. Course fee is $155.
This course will explore how to take better pictures by expansion of photographic vision. Through demonstrations of simple techniques and compositional tools, coupled with hands-on assignments and helpful critiques, participants will discover how to better “see” and, therefore, capture more interesting and creative images. Light-hearted, engaging, and highly informative, this course is designed for participants of all levels.
Hormuth has been engaged in photography for over 35 years and has conducted workshops in the Hill Country for the past 20 years. Working early in her career with Life Magazine photojournalist Leigh Wiener, her works have been published, exhibited and collected throughout the United States.
In 1996, she was commissioned to document the 150th anniversary of Fredericksburg in black and white photography which was featured in the 2006 exhibition, “Fredericksburg: Founders and Familiar Sites.” She was one of eight artists selected to exhibit her work in the 1998 Gillespie County Artist's Exhibition at Oktoberfest.
Hormuth’s work has also been selected and displayed in the 2005 Invitational Counterpoint National Photography Exhibition, as well as the “In the Eye of the Beholder” Photography Invitational Exhibit in Ingram.
With a specialty in black and white photography of people and families, Jeannette continues to work and teach in Fredericksburg.
