Alkek Kitchen Manager, Billie Gould, and Matt Haas, BISD Child Nutrition Director.

Bandera ISD’s Child Nutrition Department received an Award of Excellence for their outstanding performance on a rigorous Administrative Review with the Texas Department of Agriculture. This review assessed over 100 documents and materials which included the accuracy and execution of quality recipes, nutritious menus and food safety guidelines set forth by the US Department of Agriculture.
“I felt very prepared for the audit thanks to the guidance from our Director, Matt Haas, and the team from Southwest Food Service Excellence, which left me feeling 100 percent confident that we would perform well,” said Billie Gould, Alkek Elementary Kitchen Manager.
This award is noteworthy because few districts receive such a high distinction. “Thanks to the guidance from Region 20 and the Texas Department of Agriculture, I felt prepared and confident,” remarked Nita Webber, Support Facility secretary. “Many people worked hard to earn this accolade from the TDA. I am especially proud of Alkek’s kitchen staff as well as all the other kitchen staff members in the district. I was confident that we would do well,” said Food Service Director Matt Haas. chool district food service departments are audited every three years by the Texas Department of Agriculture.
