Leanne and Jeanne Beauxbeannes announce the eighth annual Cowgirl Round-Up and Show-Deo on Friday, Jan. 1, at the Hill County State Natural Area Lodge.

The first event of 2016 approaches fast. On Friday, Jan. 1 - New Year's Day - the eighth annual Cowgirl Round-Up and Show-Deo takes place at the Lodge Area of the Hill Country State Natural Area. However, since inclement weather is expected, coordinator Leanne Beauxbeannes advises participants to "call before you haul!"
Weather permiting, everyone will assemble at 11 am for the traditional panoramic photo in the arena. "Wear your cowgirl hats and bring your favorite equine and negative Coggins test," Beauxbeannes reminded everyone.
After the photo, the Cowgirl Show-Deo will commence with a parade of color breeds, followed by cowgirl interviews, drill team exhibitions, riding demonstrations, trail challenges and barrels and poles events.
Souvenirs, including T-shirts and CDs, as well as concessions, the sale of which benefit the Friends of the State Natural Area, will be available.
For more information or to offer your "2 cents worth," contact Beauxbeannes at 830-796-4413 or email leanne.Beauxbeannes@tpwd.texas.gov.
In the event of a cancellation, the Courier will provide details for rescheduled Cowgirl Round-Up and Show-Deo.
