BHS Speech & Debate Team dominates

The Bandera High School Speech and Debate team brought back a first place "Champion Sweepstakes" trophy from a Saturday, Nov. 7 trip to the La Vernia Invitational Tournament.
"I am so proud of our students. They beat Wimberley as well as several much larger San Antonio schools by a considerable number of points," said sponsor Emily Huber.
Samantha Shaps placed first in Persuasive Speaking and Prose. The team of Emilee Mason and Chris Wise placed first in Cross Exam Debate, while the team of Marissa Sisemore and Jean Dickinson placed third in Cross Exam Debate.
Will Fitzpatrick placed second in Prose and Lucas Duarte placed second in Poetry. Royce Barnes earned a first place in Lincoln Douglas Debate, as well as a third in Informative Speaking. Andy Zimmel placed third in Lincoln Douglas Debate and sixth in Persuasive Speaking.
The BHS Speech and Debate team will next travel to compete in the Devine Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 14, and will participate in the Karnes City Invitational in December.
