Retired teachers hold food drive

Members of the Bandera County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11 am, Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Dixie Dude Ranch, 833 Dixie Dude Road - FM 1077 - in Bandera.
Russell Nemky, PT, DPT, of Kerrville, will speak on "Keeping Retirees in Good Physical Shape."
Lunch will follow at the ranch at a cost of $8, payable to Dixie Dude Ranch. RSVP for lunch by Friday, Nov. 13, to Doris Doebbler at 830-460-3956 or doristomdoe62@att.net.
The organization will also hold its annual food drive at this meeting. Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or monetary donation to assist Helping Hand to fill Thanksgiving baskets for less fortunate families in Bandera County.
There will also be a raffle drawing for tickets sold to benefit scholarships to high school seniors who plan to enter the field of education. In 2015, scholarships in the amount of $2,750 were presented to three senior students.
"All retired school staff members are welcomed and encouraged to attend," said a spokesman. "As always, we look forward to seeing you!"
