Music Hall of Fame re-scheduled for Sunday

Event

The Bandera Music History Project and Hall of Fame will hold its awards ceremony for 2015 on Sunday, Nov. 15, at the Skyline RV Park beginning at 2 pm. Among the honors will be a Lifetime Achievement Award, posthumously presented to "The Pipe Creek Kid," Elmo Newcomer. Newcomer, a renowned Hill Country fiddler, wrote the song "Rye Whiskey." He was invited to play at the inauguration of Governor Miriam "Ma" Ferguson. His music became part of the famous Lomax recordings, now a part of the Library of Congress archives. Many musicians credit Newcomer with being an excellent inspiration and mentor. Skyline RV Park is located at 2231 Highway 16 North in Bandera.
