HCSNA hosting ranch day

Saturday, Oct. 17, will be a day of free family fun at the Hill Country State Natural Area, 10600 Bandera Creek Road, Bandera.
Make the scenic drive only 10 miles out FM 1077 to find something for everyone of any age to see or do.
Wear your jeans, boots and hats and plan to join in, since roving judges will be looking to award a variety of best-dressed ribbons.
The fun begins at 9:30 am with horse events including Junior Ranger Drill Team, Texas Thunder and play day all morning long.
From 10 am to 2 pm there will be plenty of grounds activities around the Lodge, including giant rocking horses, wagon rides, apple peeling, story telling, chuck wagon cooking and more.
At 3 pm a guided trail ride will be offered in the hills surrounding the lodge, so bring your horse and join in. Horse trailer parking is available, but always "Call before you haul," to check for muddy trail conditions.
The day draws to a close with a Star Party at 7 pm in conjunction with the San Antonio Astronomical Association. Be parked with lights off by 6:30 pm.
The Cook Shack will offer barbecue sandwiches, snacks and soft drinks with the proceeds to benefit the friends of the park group, HC-SNAP. In fact, this would be a great time to join. Pay a $15 family or $10 individual membership upon arrival at the cattle guard just before you get to the Group Lodge and you'll earn the right to camp for free on Friday and Saturday night.
