Lakehills library adds art to program

Special to The Courier

Beginning this October - and continuing with monthly exhibits over the course of a year - the Lakehills Area Public Library will begin pairing the literature stacked on its shelves with an eclectic display of art on its walls. An innovative twist that offers dimension to a space usually limited to books and computers, Art in the Library will also engage the interest of library patrons with a collection of stunning visuals that will be displayed throughout the reading rooms.
The Lakehills Library Board has recruited a group of over 20 Hill Country artists who work in diverse mediums to share the "gallery" space for one month each. Many of the works will be available for purchase, with a percentage of the sales benefitting the library.
Media will included photography, mosaics, wood and concrete art, jewelry and more.
To launch the Art in the Library project, a reception will be held the evening of Oct. 10 beginning at 7 pm to introduce the artists and sponsors. The reception will feature samplings from each participating artist.
Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor may join the library's inaugural leap into the lively arts by dropping off a donation at the library before Oct. 1. The first individual art exhibit will run from Oct. 12 through Nov. 14 and will be open to the public during regular library hours.
