A Bandera County resident was arrested last week in Kendall County and charged with bank robbery.
Shortly after the incident, Becky Jane Ely, 58, of Pipe Creek was detained and transported to the Kendall County Jail where she remains. Unconfirmed reports stated that approximately $1,000 had been stolen.
According to a press release issued by the City of Boerne, at approximately 2 pm, Wednesday, August 26, officers with the Boerne Police Department responded to reports of a robbery at the Security Service Federal Credit Union, located in the 100 block of West Bandera.
After a description of a suspect and vehicle was obtained, a BOLO - be on the lookout for - report was radioed to law enforcement officers with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Shortly after the report was dispatched, a deputy with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office and a DPS trooper spotted the vehicle at the H-E-B in Boerne. The law enforcement officers apprehended Ely and another subject without incident.
Based on information provided by witnesses on the scene, Ely was arrested and charged with the robbery. A second suspect was also detained; however, subsequent reports indicated that the other suspect was released without being charged.
The investigation remains in the preliminary stages and more information may be available at a later time. Unconfirmed reports indicated that agents with the San Antonio field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are assisting the local investigation, which is being headed up by Lt. Steve Perez of the Boerne PD.
