HCAF Visual Arts Exhibit "Live Out Loud" opens

The Hill Country Arts Foundation Visual Arts Exhibit, "Live Out Loud," will be held Friday, August 7 through Sept. 18. There will be a reception for the opening of the exhibit on Friday from 5 pm to 7 pm which is also the opening night for HCAF's theatre production, "The Addams Family," starting at 7:30 pm in the Elizabeth Huth Coates Indoor Theatre. This exhibit is particularly special because it is the only Juried Exhibit at HCAF annually. The juror is nationally known pastel artist, Kathleen Cook.
Kathleen got her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, and has since then been a fashion head illustrator and advertising art director. In 1982, she was awarded signature status by the prestigious Pastel Society of America. She now teaches classes and has her own gallery at 218 Old Ingram Loop. Kathleen's favorite art medium is pastel, "It's like painting with the stuff of butterfly wings!"
This highly accomplished artist will be the juror for this show where artists are given the prompt: Get in touch with your bold side and let your artwork say what you've always wanted to say using color, texture, and subject matter.
Live Out Loud will give the community a chance to see some of the best work from talented artists in the area and the reception is an opportunity to meet the artists themselves.
"All media was accepted for this exhibit and we have a wide variety of work submitted," said Rosanne Thrall, visual arts director at HCAF.
Awards will be announced at 6 pm during the "Live Out Loud" reception on August 7.
