Jazz & apple pie on tap in Uvalde, New Braunfels


Texas Hill Country Opera & Arts presents Doc. Watkins and his Jazz Trio for a relaxing evening of jazz at its best, light opera to cool you on a hot summer night and hot apple pie and ice cream to fill you with a taste of summer musical hospitality.
Watkins will be performing on Friday, July 10 at the Uvalde Opera House, and Saturday, July 11 at the Brauntex Theatre in New Braunfels, both at 8 pm.
Watkins is a pianist of international renown whose repertoire ranges from Jazz to Country To Opera to original compositions.
Local Hill Country talent in the person of Sarah McSweeney will be showcased in New Braunfels performance and in Uvalde, Emerald Brewer and local talent winners will be featured.
The pies served at post performance receptions will be the product produced by an apple pie bake-off in both the Uvalde and New Braunfels Communities.
Donations will be received at the post performance receptions with proceeds going to The Kitchen Table in New Braunfels and to a back to school program for needy children coordinated by the Uvalde Retired Teachers Association.
Tickets for the event are $10 for students and $20 for adults. Tickets may be purchased at Brauntex.org for The New Braunfels event and at The City of Uvalde, The Uvalde Chamber, The Uvalde City Library and The Uvalde Convention and Visitors Bureau.
