18th Annual Bandera Riverfest

Courier photos
Riverfest is the Bandera Business Association's annual party on the Medina and this year it should be a lalapalooza! The river is at its very best following generous recent rains. Come out to City Park Saturday to enjoy great music, good food, games, beautiful cars, a barbecue competition and plenty more!

It's time to get wet at the 18th Annual Bandera Riverfest to be held Saturday, June 27, at City Park, from 10 am to 6 pm. Put on your river shoes and join in for a day on the beautiful Medina River. There will be arts and crafts, an Open Car Show, Bandera Idol competition, wonderful music, a Lone Star BBQ Society cook-off competition, and plenty of food and drink.
There are no fees to enter the many fun things to do at Riverfest, such as the river rodeo (this is the Cowboy Capital of the World, there must be a rodeo), kayak races, and the Anything That Floats Regatta. You can enter a float, too. Bring your homemade water craft on down and float the Medina River. Trophies will be awarded in six categories.
There will be lots of free stuff for the kids: a beach to build sand castles on, a giant slip and slide and a watermelon and hot dog eating contest. There are tubes and kayaks to rent or you can bring your own.
Bring Fido, too, because there is a Frisbee competition where your dog can show off his ability to swim for a Frisbee. There will be prizes for all events.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors 55 and up, children 12 and under free, and active military with ID, free.
