Hill Country College Fund tops goal

Special to the Courier

Hill Country College Fund campaign raised $690,000 to help area students attend Schreiner University, according to campaign chair Glenn Andrew. The campaign surpassed its $600,000 goal, and that the fund's endowment was increased by $160,000. Andrew thanked the almost 50 volunteers who worked on the campaign, and said he looks forward to leading them again in 2015/2016.
The Hill Country College Fund, which started in 1977, provides need-based scholarships to Schreiner University students from Kerr, Gillespie, Kendall, Bandera, Edwards, Kimble and Real counties. One hundred percent of the money raised goes directly to grants to help students.
The Advanced Gifts Division will begin fundraising for the 2015/16 campaign in August, and the public campaign will commence with the HCCF kick-off luncheon on Sept. 16 in the Floyd and Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center.
Hill Country residents can help the HCCF by donating time as volunteers or by making monetary donations. To volunteer or for information about the campaign, phone L. Beth Johnson, SU community development officer, at 830-792-7204 or email lejohnson@schreiner.edu.
