Bandera ISD has named Jeff D. Hamilton as its new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach.
Hamilton comes to Bandera from Northside ISD where he served as high school co-defensive coordinator, special teams co-coordinator and JV soccer coach at both Brandeis and Brennan high schools.
Prior to working in Northside, Hamilton worked in Bryan ISD, San Angelo ISD, Goosecreek ISD and Dickinson ISD. While pursuing graduate work, he was also the tight end coach at Angelo State University.
He is a veteran educator of 17 years. While at Brandeis, the Broncos were district champions from 2010 through 2013, area finalists in 2010, 2011 and 2013 and state quarter finalists in 2009, 2012 and 2014.
"All of us on the interview committee felt that Coach Hamilton was an excellent fit for Bandera ISD. I believe we can rely on the committee's knowledge as parents, community members and district staff to know what is needed to make BISD athletics great," said BISD Superintendent Regina Howell.
Hamilton is excited to be working with Bandera's students and community. His philosophy of developing a successful athletic program is to provide a wholesome and healthy environment for student athletes. This will help them develop favorable habits and attitudes that will positively affect their future and help them become responsible and productive men and women.
His objectives are to "build better people, establish high standards for excellence, increase pride, and create a positive environment to work, grow and develop." Hamilton believes in relentlessly pursuing excellence with the foundation to success being hustle and discipline. "We will instill and foster within our athletes the values of over-achievement, hustle, self-discipline, attention to detail, honesty, pride and respect," he said.
A graduate of Permian high school in Odessa, where he played on a state championship football team, Hamilton attended Angelo State University where he received his Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in kinesiology. He is certified in health and physical education.
Hamilton will be bringing his wife, an elementary school teacher; a son in middle school; and a daughter in elementary school to Bandera. He is expected to begin his duties with Bandera ISD the week of May 4.
