Eagle Ford consortium meeting in SA

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

The Eagle Ford Consortium represents 20 South Texas counties who collaborate, partner and address the community realities resulting from the Eagle Ford Shale oil and gas exploration. The consortium plans for the sustainable future of those communities
The consortium will host their fourth annual Eagle Ford Consortium Conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio on May 27-29.
The conference focuses on developing community planning objectives in the ever changing energy marketplace. With production dropping and jobs being eliminated, a whole new set of challenges faces communities touched by the Eagle Ford Shale play.
"More than 1,000 key leaders in community, industry, education, business, and workforce development are expected to gather for the conference," said a spokesman. Some of the topics to be covered include a pre-conference on Mexican energy reform, as well as transportation, safety, housing, road improvements, workforce development, and infrastructure.
Among those scheduled to appear are Dr. Thomas Tunstall, Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Andres Alcantar and Port of Corpus Christi Commissioner Barbara Canales.
Panel discussions will include "A Discussion with County Judges in the Shale," "A Mayor's View from the 4-Corners of the Eagle Ford Shale" and "The Current Oil Market-A Perspective from North Dakota, Mississippi, and Louisiana."
Registration for the conference is $275 for individuals. Visit eaglefordconsortium.org to register.
