April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Surrounded by concerned students, families and colleagues, Judge Richard Evans proclaimed April to be Child Abuse Prevention Month in Bandera County. Acknowledging that child abuse continues to be a local problem, he noted, "Effective child abuse prevention strategies succeed because of partnerships created among citizens, human service agencies, schools, the faith community, healthcare providers, civic organizations, law enforcement agencies and the business community." Evans continued, "We call upon these important components to support families, which will not only prevent child abuse, but also strengthen the community in which we live." The silver pinwheels installed at the corner of the courthouse lawn serve as a visual reminder of the ongoing problem of child abuse.
