Stocking rates program April 14

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present a program on managing livestock stocking rates and the economics of restocking from 6-8 pm April 14 at the Mansfield Park Recreation Center. The center is located at 2886 Highway 16 North in Bandera.
"We hope area livestock producers will take advantage of this opportunity to hear from Dr. Bob Lyons, AgriLife Extension range specialist and Dr. Rich Machen, AgriLife Extension livestock specialist, both from Uvalde," said Sam Womble, AgriLife Extension agent for Bandera County. "These agency experts will provide useful information on setting and managing a stocking rate, as well as the financial advantages or disadvantages of restocking, depending on a producer's particular situation."
Bandera County producers are going into the spring with some moisture and most producers have plenty of standing forage, Womble noted.
"Under these conditions, this is sure to be a timely topic with lots of interest," he said.
One Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education unit in the general category will be provided.
Registration is $10 per person, and includes program materials and refreshments.
