BISD names director of curriculum & employee services

Bandera High School Principal Gary Bitzkie has been named as Bandera ISD's new director of curriculum and employee services.
He will join the Bandera ISD Central Administrative team officially on July 1, serving as principal until the end of the school year. For the last four years, he has assisted with personnel services for the district. He has served BISD as principal at Bandera Middle School and BHS since 1998.
"The director of curriculum and employee services is a vital role in a school district. We are very fortunate to get someone with Mr. Bitzkie's strong skill set and broad experience to guide our academic program," said Superintendent Regina Howell.
Prior to coming to Bandera, Bitzkie held various roles in Southwest ISD and Pleasanton ISD as a science teacher, coach and vice principal.
Bitzkie holds a Bachelors of Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Masters of Arts in Educational Administration from Texas A&M, Kingsville. "We're very excited to have such a well-qualified addition to the district administrative staff," Howell said.
"My ultimate goal is to improve student achievement by continuing to build on the success that has taken place here and enhance the curriculum in order to boost student achievement," Bitzkie said Wednesday morning.
"Education should help students develop the understanding, and cultivate the habits of mind which they need to become compassionate human beings able to think for themselves and to face life straight on," commented Bitzkie.
"I want to support our teachers, and help put our schools in the best position to improve teaching and learning for our students."
