Fun on tap at 11th Street CB Mardi Gras

By Judith Pannebaker BCC Editor

Bandera's 10th annual 11th Street Cowboy Mardi Gras kicks off Thursday, Feb. 5, and continues for two more fun-filled days - and nights.
James McGroarty, owner of the 11th Street Cowboy Bar, and Stella Tedesco, owner of the 11th Street Harley and Horses Marketplace, serve as prime movers behind this spectacular spectacle that features an always colorful parade, Cajun costume contests, Cajun victuals and, of course, the best Cajun and Zydeco music this side of the bayous.
Le bonne temps will rollez at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar, 307 11th Street, with a kick-off party and Canine Costume Contest at 7 pm, followed by music, music and more music by Gerard Delfose and the Zydeco Gators, beginning at 8 pm.
Starting at noon on Friday, Feb. 6, the non-stop music includes appearances by Ruben Moreno & Zydeco Revolution and Waylon Thibodeauz - Louisiana's Rockin' Fiddler at 4:30. Beginning at 9 pm, Jeff Woolsey & The Dance Hall Kings take over the night.
Saturday, Feb. 7, brings the gumbo cook-off; a noon Mardi Gras Parade up Main Street at noon; followed by more music, Cajun food and costume contests at the Cowboy Bar. CMA award winner Leroy Thomas & the Zydeco Road Runners come on at 5:30 with Five Card Draw at 9 pm.
