Local cowgirl Jeanne Beauxbeannes will be showing off her new horse, Sam Houston, at the Cowgirl Round-Up and Showdeo at the HCSNA. And, check out that banner!

On Thursday, Jan. 1, all 2015 celebratory events in Bandera County begin again - with the first one being the seventh annual Cowgirl Round-Up and Showdeo held from 11 am to 4 pm on the first day of the New Year. The free fun-filled event takes place at the Hill Country State Natural Area, 10600 Bandera Creek Road, at the end of FM 1077.
One of the highlights will be the annual High Noon Panoramic Photo. Participants are asked to arrive in time to saddle up, line up in the arena and be ready at noon. "Set your ears forward and ask your horses to smile pretty," said a Showdeo spokeswoman.
Other activities include the presentation of the colors by members of the HCSNA Junior Rangers and Parade of Breeds.
There will also be special presentations by accomplished horsewomen and an obstacle challenge set for 2 pm. Obstacles will be placed in the arena enabling riders to challenge themselves - with the support of nearby saddle pals, of course. After the challenge, barrels and poles and other fun games will take place.
Lunch will be available at the cook shack, benefitting HC-SNAP.
Volunteers are also needed to check horses for negative Coggins and act as ring stewards and gatekeepers.
