Best Wishes & Merry Christmas

By State Senator Troy Fraser

Special to the Courier

As we welcome family and friends into our homes this holiday season, I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.
Since the founding of America, Christmas has been a family celebration. Like our forefathers, we gather with loved ones to exchange gifts. We join our neighbors at holiday parties. We come together to celebrate our beliefs.
Centuries later, these traditions endure because the values that inspire them remain unchanged. Compassion and faith still guide America to this day. At Christmastime, we demonstrate these principles by donating toys, canned goods and clothing to those in need. We volunteer with local organizations so that everyone may know the warmth of the Christmas spirit.
We also pray for peace on earth and goodwill toward men. Perhaps more than ever, we appreciate the sacrifice of our armed forces and their families. For many, Christmas is a homecoming, and we relish the chance to connect with those closest to us. We're glad to trade long-distance calls for fireside chats. We're happy to exchange hugs instead of e-mails. Christmas is an opportunity to celebrate all of life's blessings as a family, a state and a nation.
I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve you in the Texas Senate. This Christmas, as you gather around the tree with family and friends, I wish you good health, good fortune and a Happy New Year.
