Prize Posse delivers grants to educators

Special to the Courier

The Bandera ISD Education Foundation Prize Posse delivered grant "big checks" to teachers on Friday morning, Nov. 21. The Posse visited all four campuses with checks for innovative teaching grants totaling more than $18,000.
The Foundation's mission is to enrich educational opportunities for staff and students in Bandera ISD that fall outside of the district's normal operating budget. The BISD Education Foundation is an all volunteer, non-profit organization which awards grants twice a year to BISD teachers.
To raise money to fund the grants and other projects, the Foundation will host the Baubles and Boots Celebration on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Lodge at San Julian. Baubles and Boots is the only event that the Education Foundation sponsors to raise funds for Innovative Instruction grants, the Top 25 Percent Senior Banquet, and the Homecoming Alumni Tailgate.
The $35 Baubles and Boots tickets are available from Foundation directors or from the BISD Central Administration Office on Pecan Street.
This year's Bauble is a turquoise and silver Native American style necklace and earrings set. The set is on display at the Back in the Saddle Boutique in December. Pre-purchase tickets for the Bauble Raffle are available at both locations.
