The Bandera ISD staff and administration thanked Trustee Don Miller for devoting his time to support public education and to serve local schools at the November regular meeting of the school board, Monday, Nov. 10.
Miller served BISD as a school trustee for six years from 2008 through 2014. He chose not to run for re-election to his spot on the board this year. In 2009 he was elected secretary of the board and continued in that position until 2013. In 2014, he served as assistant secretary. As a trustee, he always completed his continuing education requirements.
"Miller has been a very dedicated member of the community and has given his time both to the school board and to athletic programs in the community," said district spokesman Tracy Thayer. "He is notable for his quiet strength and steady leadership while on the board. Although he speaks very little, when he does choose to comment on an issue - everyone listens. He has been a strong supporter of Bandera ISD as a parent, trustee and now a community member."
At his final meeting with the board, Miller expressed his thanks for the opportunity to serve. "Thanks for letting me be a part of this team," he said. "I take my hat off to the BISD board. I've seen good and bad board members and good and bad districts, but we do things right here."
