Bandera retired teachers to hold food drive


Pictured: The Texas Retired Teachers Association held its fall conference on Oct. 23 in Boerne. Bandera County Retired Teacher Association Local President Sherrie Keese received a Certificate of Excellence awarded to the local unit for projects in Healthy Living for 2013-2014. BCRTA was ranked in the top five for this award. Other local members who attended the conference included Margaret Winn, Connie Young and Tom and Doris Doebbler.

Members of the Bandera Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11 am, Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Dixie Dude Ranch, 833 Dixie Dude Road, FM 1077, south of Bandera.
Association Member Benefits Advisors (AMBA) Seth Taylor and Jared Putnam will discuss benefits and perks offered for retired teachers in Texas. A King Ranch Chicken luncheon will follow for $8 per person, payable to Dixie Dude Ranch. The group will hold its annual food drive at this meeting. Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or monetary donation for Helping Hand. These donations will fill Thanksgiving baskets for less fortunate families in Bandera County.
All retired school staff members, including administrators, teachers, para-professionals, cafeteria employees, bus drivers and maintenance workers are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting.
