Bandera County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Lynn D. Holt was recently inducted into the 2014 College of Justice Court Judges. Holt was awarded "Scholar Member" status for obtaining more than 60 hours of judicial education above the state-mandated requirements.
The college encourages and recognizes judges who strive for advanced education. Holt is one of 54 four Justice Court Judges throughout the state to complete the requirements to qualify for the college. Additionally, he is one of only 12 judges across the State of Texas to achieve "Scholar Member" status.
"This is the eighth consecutive year Holt has been recognized by the college for his achievements in advanced judicial education," said Judge Greg Magee, who serves as president for the College of Justice Court Judges." Holt has served as Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace for 10 years. His court deals with both criminal and civil cases. Holt's duties also include death inquests, magistration duties at the jail and issuing arrest and search warrants.
Holt said, "I am honored by this award. The advanced education I have received certainly helps me to maintain an independent judiciary, and to deliver fair and impartial justice for the people who appear in my court."
