Great old gospel favorites on tap at BUMC event

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

If old time gospel music stirs your heart, make plans to attend the Bandera United Methodist Church's Gospel Fest Sunday, Oct. 19. The family friendly event will feature musicians from BUMC as well as other local talent. The highlight will be a performance by the Bracken UMC Men's Gospel Quartet.
The entire event is free of charge. "We wanted to host something that would provide a good time for the community," said Mary Moseley, "and we know a lot of people like that old southern gospel music."
"You'll hear 'Amazing Grace,' 'Little Church in the Wildwood,' just a lot of those old traditional hymns," said BUMC Music Director Esther Cook. "We'll have individuals and groups, including our church Praise Group, singing."
The concert will be held in the church's outdoor area, so come prepared to sit, listen, sing along, and have fun. In case of inclement weather, the concert will move inside.
The gospel fest will run from 4 pm to 6 pm and will be followed by a free hot dog or hamburger, chips and drink meal.
