ABKSNA public meeting set

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) invites the public to attend a meeting about plans for the Albert & Bessie Kronkosky State Natural Area (ABKSNA). The meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Bandera Electric Cooperative Community Room, 3172 Highway 16, Bandera.
The meeting is part of TPWD's effort to collect citizen's input for a public use plan for the natural area.
The 3,700 acre ABKSNA is located on the boundary of Bandera and Kendall Counties on Highway 46.
Park planners and TPWD staffers will present proposals for facilities and recreational use of the site and receive comments. Maps of the proposed development in the natural area will be available at the meeting.
Once completed, the public use plan will direct the future development of day use, overnight and administrative facilities for the park.
Community members, business owners, and representatives from civic groups and schools are encouraged to attend.
For more information, contact TPWD park planner Drew Carman at 512-389-8499 or by email at drew.carman@tpwd.texas.gov.
It will be several years before improvements of any kind are made on the property and volunteers are currently needed to do everything from office work to animal counts to cedar cutting. Go to the TPWD website to begin the process to become a volunteer.
