Drought conditions continue

According to the Texas Water Development Board's Texas Drought Report for July 28, 2014, Bandera County remains in severe drought conditions. Only 10 percent of the county, in the far west end, has been designated under moderate drought status.
The TWDB reports that while rains have improved drought conditions, 58 percent of the state remains in drought ranging from moderate to exceptional.
Severe and exceptional drought conditions continue to plague the Panhandle and north Texas along the Red River. Smaller areas just to the north and west of Bandera County also remain under extreme conditions.
"Despite the rain, statewide reservoir storage remained relatively flat, up 120,000 acre-feet or 0.4 percentage points," the report said.
The report offered the following drought statistics:
• 58 percent of state currently in moderate to exceptional drought
• 63 percent a week ago
• 69 percent three months ago
• 93 percent a year ago.
