Boys & Girls Clubs set summer camp schedule

Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County offer a wide variety of activities for youth ages 6 years to 18 years at three locations for their Summer Daycamp program.



The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County will be hosting its annual Summer Daycamp program for Bandera County youth ages 6 years to 18 years old. Daycamp will take place in three locations: youth ages six years to those going into fifth grade in the Bandera area will meet at Bandera Middle School, open from 7 am - 6 pm; those of the same ages in the Lakehills area will meet at Hill Country Elementary, also open from 7 am - 6 pm; and older participants, from those going into sixth grade through age 18, will meet at the Teen Center, 715 Maple Street, in Bandera, open from 8 am - 6 pm. The daycamps will be held in two sessions, Monday, June 16 through Friday, August 8; and Monday August 18 through Friday, August 22.
Throughout the summer, each location will have its own unique schedule that will cater to its age group as well as its community. All activities relate to the Club's three outcome areas; Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles.
The cost is $35 for the entire summer of daycamp. On almost every Friday, the camps will provide a field trip for Club members who attend throughout the week.
We will be providing activities and programs in the following areas:
Academic Success:
• We will be a stop on the Bulldog Mobile, which will basically be a mobile library hosted by Bandera ISD library staff and volunteers
• Each site will be hosting a program called "Brain Gain" which will host activities that will focus on summer learning loss for all age groups
• All sites will have game based programs for academic learning (shh...don't tell the kids!)
Healthy Lifestyles:
• Summer Fitness Challenges
• Summer Gardening
• Programs focused on healthy decision making
Good Character & Citizenship
• Volunteering and service projects will be done at all sites
• Various activities based upon character
• Leadership opportunities are available for each site
All parents are required to attend a Parent Orientation Session for their child to attend the Summer Daycamp Program. Parent Orientation sessions will provide parents with the summer calendar, ensure that the child is eligible for field trips and will give parents special incentives for all summer programs. Light snacks and drinks will be served at all orientation sessions.

Orientation dates are:
For youth attending the Middle School this summer, the orientation will be held at Alkek Elementary (not Bandera Middle School) on Tuesday, May 27, at 6:30 pm.
For youth attending Hill Country Elementary this summer, the orientation will be held at Hill Country on Thursday, May 29 at 6:30 pm.
For youth attending the Teen Center this summer, the orientation will be held at the Teen Center on Wednesday, June 4, at 6:30 pm.
Registration forms are available at: Hill Country Elementary, Alkek Elementary, Bandera Middle School and 715 Maple in Bandera. Turn in forms to a director or stop by 715 Maple, Bandera.
