Spring cleaning for crime prevention

Since spring is finally here, now is the time to mark all valuables, take photos and write down all makes, models and serial numbers of all valuable items in your home and garage.
A few safety prevention tips to deter and prevent burglaries are easier to do now than when you become a victim.
Store hard copies of the information in a safe place and not on your computer because in a burglary, your computer will be stolen, too. Remember to keep records updated each time you purchase or receive any valuable items.
Because some valuables such as jewelry, antiques and silverware cannot be marked without reducing their value, a color photograph is usually sufficient evidence to prove ownership.
Also, keep doors and windows locked at all times - even when you're home. Remind family members and friends to remove valuables from vehicles and keep the doors locked.
