Bandera Middle School 8th grader Bree Brakebill and 7th grader Jackson Short were named Bandera ISD's Students of the Month for February, as announced at the February school board meeting. BMS Principal Donald Tosh, BISD Board Vice President, Laurie Neff, and BISD Superintendent Regina Howell congratulated both students on being selected.
Brakebill was characterized by her teachers and administrators as a student who takes tremendous pride in her academic work and strives to improve. She always has something positive to contribute to any lesson. She is a voracious reader who also participates in extracurricular activities like basketball and UIL spelling competition. Brakebill is the daughter of Casey and Douglas Brakebill of Lakehills.

Short was described as self-confident, energetic and enthusiastic. His teachers report that he gives 110 percent on everything that he does, especially math. Short's greatest strengths are in his character, honor, and willingness to assist his fellow students. He participates in many extracurricular activities as well as maintaining his grades in a challenging class schedule. He is the son of Myron and Susan Short of Pipe Creek.
