Sweetheart Music Fest a sweet deal

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

Wondering what to do for Valentine's Day Friday? The Bandera Optimist Club offers a sweet deal for all of Bandera County's lovers with their first Sweetheart Music from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at the Bandera Music Emporium's Blue Coyote Theater.
"This will be a come-and-go family friendly event," said Optimist President Sully Woodland. "The funds we raise will go toward the scholarships we award to one boy and one girl who are selected as the Optimist Students of the Year."
Anyone looking for a nice way to spend this special day with their special someones couldn't find a better deal. Tickets are only $5 per person, with children under 12 admitted free. BanderaRadio.com will have soft drinks and popcorn for sale. This is a non-alcohol event.
In addition, there will be door prizes and a silent auction.
Three local bands will play throughout the evening, with other local talent interspersed between the sets. Hold hands while listening to the Three Peace Band, Margaret's Guitar and Lee and Karen Haile.
Three Peace Band, made up of Rick Jeter, Karen Haile and Cynthia Anderson, bring music from the 60s, 70s and 80s to the stage, featuring songs from the Beatles to Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac and more.
Margaret's Guitar presents original folk and Americana music to the stage with Cyndi and Charlie Dickey, Mike Lester and Catherine Holmes.
Professional cowboy musician and storyteller Lee Haile gives his unique spin to tunes with backup harmonies provided by wife, Karen.
Door prizes will include three beautiful Valentine vases of flowers.
"This will be a fun date," said Woodland. "Please bring your sweetheart for a Valentine evening filled with fun and entertainment, a great way to spend Valentine's Day."
The Blue Coyote Theater is located at 1207 Cedar Street.
