Hill Country CASA needs advocates

Hill Country CASA has seen a significant increase in the number of child abuse cases in the first six weeks of 2014 and is currently recruiting community volunteers to train as advocates for children involved in the judicial process because of abuse or neglect.
CASA volunteers work with attorneys, schools, law enforcement and social service providers to make sure that each child receives the individual attention needed to facilitate necessary services and a safe, timely, permanent placement.
Volunteers are screened and trained in accordance with national and state CASA guidelines.
A volunteer training is scheduled to begin on Feb. 25. Call Hill Country CASA at 896-2272 or stop by the office at 331 Earl Garrett St in Kerrville for more information.
