ABKSNA vols training to count warblers

ABKSNA is almost ready to start counting the returning Golden-cheek warbler.
Participating in bird counts is just one of many ways volunteers can help get the county's newest state natural area ready for the public.
Niki Lake from Government Canyon SNA will be teaching a class on point count survey techniques for the Golden-cheek warbler.
The class is in multiple parts. The first section is on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Government Canyon, time to be determined. There will be a future section and field training followed by mentoring.
Anyone interested in volunteering at ABKSNA should go to the Texas Parks and Wildlife website to sign up for service. All volunteers undergo a background check.
