Baubles & Boots Gala slated for Jan. 18

The annual Baubles and Boots Gala, benefiting the Bandera Independent School District Education Foundation, will be held at The Lodge at the Flying A Ranch from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Saturday, Jan. 18.

This fundraiser supports Bandera ISD schools through the award of innovative teaching grants. Since its creation in 2005, the Education Foundation has awarded over 120 grants totaling over $180,000 to Bandera ISD campuses.
"Baubles and Boots is a great evening of fun and entertainment. I hope everyone comes out to support our students and teachers and helps us reach the $200,000 mark this year," said Education Foundation President Hooter McMullan.
The highlight of the evening will be live and silent auctions featuring local artists, craftsmen and businesses. Auction items include a dangle collage choker from artist Jo Ann Brooks, barnwood cross from artist Elizabeth Kennady Major, photo-canvas of horses by photographer Patricia Galm, original painting by artist Jenny Burton, handcrafted cowboy boot rodeo quilt by quilter Brenda John, stained glass cross by artist Mary Kitchens, antique Depression era quilts donated by Tracy Thayer and an original cake by Debra Halfman.
Local businesses contributing to the auctions are Hevenor's Lumber, Boyle's Bandera True Value Hardware, Camp Verde Store, Sasi Nails and Silver Threads, Cox Media Group, Bandera General Store, Wells Fargo Bank, O'Neals Florist, Country Accents, Hill Country Grocery, Johnnie's Pasta House, and Jesse Jayne's.
In addition, drawings for a pair of cowboy boots provided by the Cowboy Store and a "bauble" provided by local jeweler Hyo Silver will cap out the night.
Dress for the evening is Bandera Formal. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be provided. Live music by Dave Kemp will keep the crowd entertained. Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased from Education Foundation directors, at the Bandera ISD Central Office on Pecan Street, or at the door.
"Everyone will enjoy Baubles and Boots. It's a great way to show your support of our schools while having an enjoyable evening out at the same time," said McMullan.
The Bandera ISD Education Foundation's mission is to enrich and enhance educational opportunities for staff and students that fall outside the scope of the district's normal operating budget. For more information about the Baubles and Boots Gala, call 830-796-3313 or email tthayer@banderaisd.net.
