The BUG (Bringing Up Grades) group from the Kiwanis Club of Bandera visited Alkek Elementary on Friday, Nov. 22, to encourage the third grade classes to work hard to bring up their grades. Pictured are Secretary Richard Watts, President Michelle Frost, Meg Tucker (alias Mrs. Bugaloo), Bob Tucker and Director Bill Bishop. The Kiwanis visit both BISD elementary campuses each six weeks to help spread the message to students to "bring up their grades." At the end of the program in May, third graders at each elementary who have brought up their grades during the course of the year will qualify for a drawing for a boy's and a girl's bike. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
