Going strong after 106 years
During the Thursday, Oct 10, meeting, Bandera County Judge Richard Evans and commissioners recognized Oct. 6-12 as National 4-H Week in Texas. From left, Treasurer Miranda Schott, District Council Delegate Calvin Starnes and President Cheyanne Jenkins offered the court information about the club's popular programs. The 4-H officers were accompanied by Sam Womble, county extension agent, and Sissy Sandidge, 4-H program assistant. In 2012, the Bandera County 4-H program had 357 members and adult 106 volunteers. Before signing the proclamation, Evans noted, "Every kid who participates in the 4-H program means one less juvenile I have to deal with in court. We commend the 4-H Youth Development Program of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the many men and women who have made the program a success."
