This past summer, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County hosted a Junior Staff program. Devan Soto and Jeremiah Silone were the two teenagers that spent their summer working for the club.
Each of them participated in Career Launch, a program at the Boys & Girls Clubs that prepare teens for three areas: job readiness, college preparation and career exploration.
Junior Staff and other teens had discussions and started throwing ideas out for what they want to do after they graduate high school.
One of the priority outcomes for Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County is academic success. The club strives to help each member have a plan for their future.
"After finishing the Junior Staff program, we are very excited for the future of these two individuals," said Greg Parker, club director. "They have been such an asset to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County. Thanks for continuing to serve, Jeremiah and Devan!'
Main offices of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County are located at 715 Maple Street in Bandera. For information about joining, volunteering, or donating needed items, call 830-796-8109.
Members ages 6-5th grade meet at the Alkek Unit at Alkek Elementary, in Lakehills ages 6-5th grade meet at the Hill Country Unit at Hill Country Elementary and 6th grade through age 18 meet at the Teen Center at 715 Maple in Bandera.
We try to remember this credo from Mumford and Sons, "'Keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn!'" said Parker.
