Canning workshop set for Boerne

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

Texas AgriLife Extension Service will host a canning workshop, "Canning 101 - Preserving & Serving the Harvest," on Monday, Oct. 21. The event will be held at Boerne Church of Christ, 1 Upper Balcones Road, in Boerne, from 1 to 4 pm.
Participants will learn to enjoy fresh food all year round by growing and preserving their own. Students will learn the basics of pressure canning with a hands-on experience.
Bring an apron, knife and cutting board and be ready to get a little messy.
The workshop costs $20, which includes instruction, handouts and a freshly canned jar of produce to take home. Checks should be made payable to Kendall Ag Fund. Registration is required. Stop by the Kendall Country Extension Office at 118 Saunders by Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Stephen Zoeller, CEA-Ag, will discuss fall gardening do's and don'ts, and answer gardening questions.
Extension programs serve all people regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, disability or national origin. Anyone needing auxiliary aids in order to participate in the workshop should make their needs known by Oct. 15.
