Calling all volunteers - become a cedar chopper!

James Rice, Albert and Bessie Kronkosky State Natural Area Superintendent, invites all those who have attended an Albert and Bessie Kronkosky State Natural Area public meeting and expressed interest in volunteering at ABK, those who have completed the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department volunteer process, and/or those who have visited ABK and signed the TPWD waiver form and completed an orientation session with James Rice, ABK superintendent, to a cedar clearing opportunity.
The project involves clearing regrowth cedar from old agricultural fields at ABKSNA. "We need people to work chainsaws, use handheld loppers, and to drag cedar that has been cut into piles," said Rice.
The project will be held on Friday mornings at 8:30 am, recurring each week. Vols can come every Friday, as often as possible.
The ABK State Natural Area Headquarters is located at 7690 Highway 46 West, in Pipe Creek.
Qualified volunteers should bring gloves, water, and a willingness to work. Tools will be provided.
